Jens Jakob Happ was born in Frankfurt on the Main and studied architecture at the technical universities of both Berlin and Darmstadt, as well as trompe l’oeil painting in Brussels. For the period of 1984 – 1990, he moved to New York, where he worked at the offices of Robert A. M. Stern and Richard Meier. Back in Frankfurt, he worked with the Albert Speer office (AS&P) from 1990 until 2005, first as employee then as partner, before starting his own architecture and planning office in 2006: happarchitecture. Jens Jakob Happ is a member of the Association of German Architects (BDA) and the  “Deutscher Werkbund” (German Association of Craftsmen). Delegated by the BDA, he became a member of the Frankfurt urban development council in 2007, which he headed in 2017. A good ten years later, he joined the “urban future forum e.V.” (2018) as well as the scientific board of the urban planning institute “Deutsches Institut für Stadtbaukunst e.V.” (2019).
