The project is part of the as yet biggest residential building project in Kassel, set on the grounds of the former regional fire department school. Apartment buildings as well as townhouses were included in the planning, 10 of which are situated on Anna-Seghers-Street. Main quality criteria of the compact, urban houses are the mezzanine floors, ca 3,15 m high ceilings as well as integrated garages. The punctuated facades are structured by “standing” window formats at a recurring rhythm. Window embrasures as well as parapets and cornices are framed with ashlar. Towards the street, the walls are clad with brickwork. Protruding roof terraces and shifting height variations parallel to the sloping plot provide a lively outline of the ensemble. The end houses feature bay windows to the North and South respectively. All houses share a threefold concrete framework construction. Forming a protruding roof or balcony in front of the kitchen, it provides a buffer area at the crossing point between private and public space and also functions as a climbing scaffold for plants.
